The Lutheran Church in Malaysia and Singapore is organised as a single national Church comprising of believers and followers of Jesus Christ who profess the Lutheran expressions in the body of Christ.
Organised in local congregations, these believers are united together by a common confession of faith, tradition and governance to fulfill their mission to extend the Kingdom of God and build up of the body of Christ.
The tangible and institutional unity of the Church can be seen through the appointment of co-workers, and through the developing of mission and ministry that the Church does together. This can be seen; amongst other efforts; in the care for the elderly through our nursing homes, the care for orphans through our orphanages, emergency assistance during disasters, and the spiritual nurture and support provided to believers overseas through our mission work.
The work of the Kingdom of God is of course much larger than what a single institution can effectively manage and the Church works in cooperation with other believers and organised churches locally and worldwide; both within and beyond the Lutheran tradition; in recognition of our spiritual unity under the Lordship of Christ.
Bishop Message
"Sing for joy to God our strength! Sound the ram's horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival." For the Lord says, "I removed the burden from their shoulders; you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you." Psalms 81: 1-3, 6, 16
Gong Xi! Gong Xi!
As we step into a new Lunar New Year, my family and I wish all our pastors, members and friends a year blessed with God's peace and joy. May your Chinese New Year also be filled with much happiness, good health, progress and prosperity!
I hope that all of us will take this festive occasion to renew and strengthen our relationships with God, family and friends. Learn to give and forgive, and be confident that, in this New Year, God will enable us ‘to do all things through Him who gives us strength.'
And don't forget, drive safe when you ‘balik kampung'!
